CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Praveen Shetty is an Assistant Professor- Selection Grade in the Department of Humanities and Management at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. His PhD is in the field of intercultural communication and multiculturalism.
He is a recipient of Jean Monnet Module Building Bridges: Indo European Intercultural Dynamics. He is also the coordinator for Centre for Intercultural Studies and Dialogue (CISD), MAHE.
He offers courses on 'Intercultural Communication' for engineering students and works on pedagogical practices related to enhancing intercultural competence among Indian students.
CISD, MAHE is working on a project ‘Discerning India: Living Cultures of Tulunadu’.
As part of the CISD project, several exciting initiatives have been launched to appreciate and preserve the vibrant heritage of the region Tulunadu.
In 2022, a self-paced online certificate course, "Living Cultures of Tulunadu," was offered to provide a glimpse into the region's rich traditions.
In November 2023, CISD published a visually captivating book titled Living Cultures of Tulunadu introducing readers to the prominent living traditions of the region.
A total of 08 documentaries have been produced by CISD on local traditions as part of the project. These documentaries have been officially selected for a total of 18 international film festivals, including Rural Film Festival, Alicante, Spain and Tokyo Documentary Film Festival, Japan.
