Dr. Dony S Kurian

Assistant Professor

Dr. Dony S Kurian is an Assistant Professor at the Manipal Institute of Commerce, Finance and Economics (MICFE), MAHE Bengaluru. He teaches courses in Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Prior to joining academia, he worked as a Data Scientist at EXL Service for close to five years. In this role, he led analytics consulting engagements for a US-based insurance client. His work involved developing and deploying machine learning models on cloud platforms. He also built automated pipelines to support real-world business decision-making. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut. His thesis is titled "Machine Learning-Enabled Supply Chain Ordering Management and Its Impact on Supply Chain Performance." This doctoral work laid the foundation for his continuing research on intelligent, anticipatory inventory replenishment systems. His research interests include machine learning applications in supply chain and inventory management, Data-Driven Frameworks for Business and Management Problems, and Generative and Agentic AI applications in business. He has published his research in reputed peer-reviewed journals and presented papers at multiple national and international conferences. His teaching philosophy blends hands-on learning for industry relevance. Through this approach, he equips students with the practical fluency and analytical rigor needed to thrive in data-driven business environments.
