Overview
The MSc Biophysics course is offered by the Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics.
The curriculum includes
- Conferences, workshops and symposia.
- Guest lectures by eminent scientists from reputed institutes.
- Seminars by faculty members and research scholars on scientific and general topics of interest.
Assessment
- Students are evaluated on class/tutorial participation, assignment, laboratory work, class tests and quiz tests which together will constitute the internal assessment.
- The students also appear in the end semester examination in all the theory and laboratory courses as per the course of study.
- Each course is evaluated for a total of 100 marks: 50 for internal assessment and the 50 for end-semester examination.
Outline - MSc Biophysics
Eligibility
Duration: 2 years divided into 4 semesters.
Citizenship: Indian nationals can apply under the General Category. Foreign nationals or Non Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under the Foreign/NRI Category.
Qualification: Candidate should have Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 55% marks in any of the following areas at the time of admission.
- B.Sc. Physics /Bio-informatics/ Biology (10+2 with mathematics) / Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / B. Tech. Bioinformatics / Biotechnology / Industrial Biotechnology.
Admissions
General/Foreign/NRI Category: Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination and there is no entrance test.
Note: Candidates can apply either under General Category or Foreign/NRI Category. Those submitting applications under both General and Foreign/NRI categories will be considered only under the General Category. Change of category at a later stage will not be entertained under any circumstances.
Merit List:
General Category: Based on the marks obtained at the qualifying examination, Manipal Academy of Higher Education will declare a list of candidates in the order of merit in the website.
Foreign/NRI Category: A separate merit list of the applicants under the Foreign/NRI category will be prepared based on marks obtained at the qualifying examination and those selected for admission will be informed separately.
