World Photography Day celebration at MIC

On the occasion of World Photography Day, Manipal Institute of Communication conducted a workshop on Modelling Photography on 19th August, 2025. The session was headed by Mr. Sterin, Senior Trainer at Nikon India. Over a hundred and thirty students and faculty members participated in the workshop.

At the heart of the workshop, Mr. Sterin taught the students the nuances involved in handling professional cameras, lighting techniques, types of lenses, fashion photography, and post-production techniques while editing the images, which delved deeper into various methods involved in capturing moments with students as live models.

Mr. Sterin proceeded to delve further into the workshop by using students as models to explain how lighting plays an important role in photography. Butterfly lighting, Rembrandt lighting, and broad and short lighting were some of the ways that were discussed.

The session then focused on how to edit the images captured to meet the required standards. Mr. Sterin explained the many steps involved in the post-production. The workshop ended with the distribution of certificates to all the students involved.

The workshop was presided over by Dr. Shubha HS, Director, and coordinated by Prof. C. Manikandan. Mr. Mahesh Shivaram, Mr. Roshan, Mr. D. Srinivas, and Mr. Adarsha from Team Nikon were also a part of this workshop.
