Session on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)

Departments of Psychiatric Nursing and Child Health Nursing of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) in collaboration with Autism Society of Udupi, and Ishanya India Foundation, Bengaluru, organized an awareness session for the nursing students of MCON on June 6, 2025, between 11:30 am and 12:45 pm. The objective of the program was to raise awareness on different types of developmental disorders of childhood, and the need for inclusive practices by the health team members, which can drive positive change for individuals with IDD and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, particularly “SDG3: Good Health and Wellbeing”. Mr. Anoop Simha, Program Director at Ishanya India Foundation, was the resource person for the program. He emphasized the timely, need-based, individual-specific interventions for people with disabilities. He also described the work done at Ishanya India Foundation, its aims, and outreach programs. The program was attended by 45 nursing students and 10 faculty members of MCON.
